I bought this unit to replace my old code reader. This new unit has far more features, such as OBD1, and gives loads of information. You must have an understanding of what the information means and what normal parameters are for the make and model of vehicle. It is a great step up from a basic code reader, but not quite a bonafide scan tool. It is however a good value, quick and easy to use, and comes with nice storage cases.

Great device to determine the meaning to the problem code when the check engine light comes on. I was able to quickly determine the root of the reason the light on my dash came on. Great device.

I do some pretty in depth mechanic work, but I couldn't justify the price of the Genisys type (professional) scanners. I have used this scan tool to check and erase codes, view live data, diagnose misfires, and a bunch of other stuff. The OBD I cables being INCLUDED is a huge value over comparable scanners. Quality of the piece is great and 2 nice cases are included. The only minus is that the instruction manual is pretty vague. If you aren't well versed in auto electronics you will barely scrat......
All information I could find before purchase indicated that the unit would work with Toyota/Lexus 85-95 (OBD-I); however it turns out that certain models/years are not covered (such as the '92 Corolla). The product box does say so, as does the manual on page 100+ (PDF version is available from equus), but this information is not available easily when purchasing online.
Make sure you read the make-specific pages in the manual before purchasing if you are buying for OBD-I diagnostics.

I have really enjoy using this scanner, especially because of it's versatility by handling OBD I and II and the Live feedback from the engine too.
